YouTube has taken strict action by removing over 9.5 million videos from its platform. According to a report released by the company, these videos were taken down due to content violations. The videos were uploaded between October and December 2024. Among the deleted videos, the highest number were uploaded by Indian creators.
India Tops the List with 3 Million Deleted Videos
YouTube stated that these videos violated its content policies. Out of the total deleted videos, the highest number—3 million (30 lakh)—were uploaded by Indian creators. Most of these videos contained hate speech, misinformation, or harassment, which were against YouTube’s guidelines.
To maintain transparency, YouTube used an AI-based detection system to identify and take action against such content. Among the removed videos, more than 5 million featured children in inappropriate ways, including dangerous stunts and harassment, violating the platform’s content policies.

4.8 Million Channels Removed
In addition to deleting videos, YouTube also removed over 4.8 million channels. These channels were found uploading spam or fraudulent content. When a channel is removed, all videos uploaded to that channel are automatically deleted. Due to this action, around 5.4 million videos were taken down.
Google stated that YouTube takes such actions periodically to maintain a transparent and safe video platform for users. Along with AI-based detection tools, the platform also analyzes videos reported by users before removing them.
