Cleanliness is a part of everybody’s daily morning routine. Additionally, taking a bath regularly not only keeps us clean but also helps us avoid many diseases that may arise.

    Not taking a regular bath?

But, it may also happen that we miss a bath sometimes. And this is not a huge thing. But what if we keep missing bath times, days after another? Well! Let’s find out.

    Taking A Regular Bath

Generally, taking a bath every two to three days is enough. And this is suggested even by many doctors as well.

The medical reason for that being is taking long showers every day can often strip away natural oils from our skin? This can lead to skin dryness and more. But most people tend to take it as a daily activity

“The idea of needing to shower daily to maintain personal hygiene is more of a social norm and habit,” says dermatologist Dr Elizabeth Bahar.

So, depending upon your daily schedule, you may require a day bath. For instance, if you are someone who sweats a lot or works out daily, you will need a daily bath.

What Will Happen If You Take A Bath For A Month?

But, you might have wondered what will happen if you don’t take a bath for a really long time.

Now, to answer your question, here are a few things that will happen if you don’t take a bath for a month.

    Sweat And Bacteria

If you don’t take a bath for a few days obviously a lot of bacteria and sweets will accumulate in your body. So now, imagine how much bacteria and sweat will gather during the month you don’t shower?

Not only this, but body odor is also a part of bacteria. And this will definitely get worse over time.

Our body has two types of sweat glands. And if we don’t shower regularly, these sweat glands will release a lot of different odors.

Most commonly these glands are found in places where there is a lot of hair growth.

    Acne Will Increase

Acne can happen due to many reasons. But one such reason is uncleanliness.

You must have noticed that even if you miss cleaning your face before going to sleep, acne pops out sometimes.  So, imagine how may acne can pop up if you don’t shower for a month.

Additionally, dirt on your skin leads to clogging of pores, enlarged pores, blackheads, acne and whiteheads.

    Fungal Infections

Our skin protects us from fungus and bacteria, right? But if our skin is unhealthy and dirty how will it protect us from germs and bacteria?

Now, if your skin is prone to bacteria and dirt, infections are likely to happen, isn’t it?

So, if you are likely to not shower for a month straight, then fungus and bacteria will definitely attack your skin. And because of lack of cleaning, you may even suffer from fungal infections.

Moreover, these fungal infections can also cause sickness in your body.

    Sickness

If you don’t take a bath for a month, your health will also be affected. Since you are not cleaning yourself, the dirt and bacteria will not be washed. And they can enter your body.

These bacteria and dirt can enter your body through your nose, mouth and eyes. And you can suffer from various sicknesses and diseases also.

    Skin-related Problems

It is a given that your skin will be affected the worst if you don’t shower for a month. You will definitely have skin-related problems. Rashes can appear on your skin, patches can be formed, and many more.

Not only this, but you can also see swelling and flakiness on your skin and scalp.

“Bathing and skincare products are a critical component of treatment and avoiding flakes,” says Dr Elizabeth Houshmand, a dermatologist.

She also adds, “One of the best ways to find relief is to reintroduce moisture into the skin through proper bath or shower and moisturizing immediately.”

So you see what can happen when you don’t take a bath for a really long time.

Not only do you remain unclean, but this will also affect your health. So, it is really important for you to take a regular bath to stay healthy and clean.

Now, you might also wonder how should you shower to maintain cleanliness and also prevent drying of skin?

Dermatologist Edidiong Kaminska says “There are many ways to shower, but the simplest and most gentle way is to use your hands.”

So, when you shower keep the following things in mind:

    • Use water that is not too hot, as hot water often causes dryness.
    • Use a simple bar soap or a liquid cleanser
    • Clean every part of the body thoroughly
    • Do not forget to moisturize your skin after every shower
    • Most importantly, shower for 5 to 10 minutes only.
