The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has created the mPassport Police App, which will reduce the time involved in the issuance of a passport by expediting the process of police verification. The mPassport app is designed to make the police personnel submit the verification documents through tables to. It will reduce the police verification time from 15 to just 5 days and will ultimately get your passport issued in 10 days. The app is only launched for the police personnel in Delhi, and the MEA may soon incorporate other states police as well within this app.

The Ministry of External Affairs is busy in making the issuance of passport process easy and smooth in India. It has launched various initiatives in the recent times to ease the process of passport application and issuance. The mPassport Police app is designed to make the police verification for passport issuance to be completed in just 5 days, as the police personnels won’t be required to carry any paper work. This will make the passport process in Delhi quite smooth and swift.

MEA has also integrated DigiLocker with the Passport Seva Programme, that will allow citizens to submit their various documents in a paperless mode, eliminating the need to carry original documents to the Passport Kendra. The Indian government is working towards making the passport issuance process hassle-free and remove the need for a middle-man that has been bribing people in India to get a passport.

The Indian government’s latest initiative aims to reduce the time and effort required to obtain a passport. It is part of a larger effort by the Department of Posts to expand its passport services outreach, which has established Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK) locations across the country. Currently, the country has 555 Passport Kendras, including 36 Passport Offices, 93 Passport Seva Kendra, and 426 Post Office Passport Seva Kendra. Furthermore, the centralised passport issuance system has been integrated with 174 Indian Missions and Posts, making passport issuance easier for Indian diaspora members.
