The Weekend lockdown of Uttar Pradesh has been reduced from two days a week to only one day a week, on Sundays only. Earlier Saturdays and Sundays were the days designated for this weekly lockdown and no one was allowed to operate normally on these days except for the essentials.

Uttar Pradesh is one of the Indian states that have been most affected by the Pandemic and is suffering a heavy number of casualties. Now, in order to take all the necessary steps, a two-day lockdown was introduced some time back but now it’s reduced to one day only, Sunday, courtesy of Unlock 4.0.

Additional Chief Secretary (ACS), Home, Awanish Awasthi confirmed the news on September 1st after discussing the matter in the CM Yogi Daily  Covid-19 review meeting. This decision is taken in order to fast pace the recovery from the lockdown yet maintain policies that bring no hard, hence still keeping one full day for lockdown.

“Now the weekend lockdown will come into effect on Saturday midnight and will continue till Sunday midnight,” said Awasthi.

There has been a rigorous cycle of tests for the real public by the state government and they aim to test everyone and get every corona positive person before its too late. According to CM Yogi, its the best policy that can be taken until a vaccine is out for the general public.

“Till the time, a formidable medicine or a vaccine is not discovered to tackle the deadly coronavirus, doing more and more tests is the only and the biggest tool to handle the crisis,” said the CM.

The vaccine is yet to arrive for the general public and till then people of Uttar Pradesh might keep a little low as UP is a hotspot zone for COVID-19.

Now, with the Saturday also in the arsenal of your unlocked days, it doesn’t mean that you have to go out if possible keep being at your home anyway.
