This app was first released on August 14, 2013. With nearly 6.3 crore downloads, this app manages to hold the first spot on the list in January 2021.

Holding the second position in the list, Tik-Tok, also known as Douyin in China, is a video content sharing social platform owned by the Chinese company ByteDance. This application was first released in September 2016 and it was first known by the name of Musical.ly. Last month this app got installed by six crore new users.

As people started boycotting WhatsApp, the Signal app came under the limelight as it turned out to be the best alternative to WhatsApp, and also Elon Musk recommended using this app on his Twitter account. This app was developed by Signal Technology Foundation and Signal Messenger LLC and after being boasted this app got third place in the ranking.

According to our opinion, Facebook was the first social networking platform that brought a revolution on the internet and also in online businesses. The name did first appear as a website and then after years, its app was launched. The founder of Facebook is Mark Zuckerberg and due to its high demand and popularity, it is holding the fourth position.

This application is basically used for teleconferencing, telecommuting, social relations, etc. Due to its high demand because of the pandemic, it manages to grab the seventh spot on the list.

You can call it a replacement for Tik-Tok after it got banned in India because of security reasons. This app also offers the same features as Tik-Tok and it claims to have over 7 crore monthly active users and took the eighth position in the list.

This application brought the concept of stories and snaps and now this concept has become a trend and copied by all the famous social networking platforms like Instagram and Facebook. This was created by former Stanford University students Evan Spiegel, Bobby Murphy, and Reggie Brown. It was initially released on July 8, 2011, and available in 37 languages.




  1. Facebook Messenger

It is an American messaging app developed by Facebook to make chats easy and more engaging for its users. Originally it was first recognized as Facebook Chat and was developed in 2008 and in 2010 the company revamped its messaging service. This application was first released on August 9, 2011, and holds the tenth spot on the list.
