These days, everyone seems to be in a festive mood, with Diwali shopping, cleaning, and preparing homemade dishes in full swing. Many types of sweets and fried foods are made or bought during Diwali, leading to rapid weight gain. To enjoy the festival guilt-free, it’s a good idea to shed 1-2 kilos before Diwali. Nutritionist, weight loss coach, and keto dietitian Swati Singh shares some effective tips to help you lose weight before the festivities begin.

6 Weight Loss Tips Before Diwali:

1. Eliminate White Foods
Start by removing white foods from your diet. This means cutting out white sugar, refined flour, and reducing salt intake. Salt can cause water retention, so by lowering your salt consumption, you can reduce bloating and water weight.

2. Exercise Daily
Incorporate 30 to 40 minutes of exercise into your daily routine, whether it’s running, walking, yoga, or any other activity. Aim for 10,000 steps every day to help shed excess weight.

3. Plan Healthy Meals
While preparing for Diwali, take time to focus on your fitness by sticking to homemade meals. Avoid unhealthy snacks and plan healthy dishes for yourself ahead of time to resist the temptation of junk food.

4. Control Portions
Watch your portion sizes. Enjoy your meals, but make sure you’re not overeating, especially at dinner. Opt for light evening meals like porridge, khichdi, soup, or salad to avoid storing excess fat.

5. No Oil Days
Two days before Diwali, switch to a “No Oil Day.” Avoid using oil in your meals and stay away from fried foods. Focus on eating fruits, salads, curd, and green vegetables to keep your diet light and nutritious.

6. Stay Hydrated
With all the hustle of Diwali preparations, it’s easy to forget to drink water. Staying hydrated is essential, so make sure to drink at least 3 liters of water daily to aid in weight loss and keep you feeling energized.

By following these simple tips, you can enjoy Diwali while staying fit and healthy!
