Rohit Shetty and Ajay Devgn’s Singham Again has dominated the box office on its first day, surpassing Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 by Kartik Aaryan. The film’s larger-than-life characters, cameos by big stars, and the nostalgia of the previous Singham instalments have managed to draw audiences in. As a result, it has outperformed Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 in terms of first-day collections.
Although comparing both films isn’t entirely fair, Singham Again certainly benefitted from its impressive star cast. Audiences flocked to theatres to witness this star power. According to the tracking site Sacnilk, Singham Again opened with an impressive 43.5 crore rupees, while Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 earned around 35 crore rupees on its first day.
This collection has made Singham Again the biggest opening film of Ajay Devgn’s career. Previously, Singham Returns, another film from the Cop Universe, held that record, collecting around 32.09 crore rupees across India on its opening day. Singham Again has also become Rohit Shetty’s highest-opening film. However, it hasn’t yet surpassed Stree 2, the year’s biggest opener, which brought in 51.8 crore rupees on its first day, including early screenings.
Reports indicate that Singham Again was given more screenings than Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, contributing to its higher earnings. Recently, it was reported that most multiplexes prioritised Singham Again for prime-time slots, while single-screen theatres offered more shows for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.
The buzz around Singham Again was high, and its advance booking numbers were equally impressive. Over 500,000 tickets were sold for its first day alone, bringing in 15 crore rupees through advance bookings. Now, all eyes are on how it performs over the weekend. After the initial reviews, word of mouth will play a crucial role in sustaining its success. If the audience response isn’t positive, a drop in collections is likely.
