As per sources, India’s star batter, Shubman Gill, who has reportedly contracted dengue fever, is expected to be absent from the team’s third Cricket World Cup 2023 game against Pakistan scheduled in Ahmedabad. Gill had been sidelined for India’s initial two matches of the World Cup, which took place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai and the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, against Australia and Afghanistan. In those previous two matches, Ishan Kishan stepped in to replace the opening batsman, forming a partnership with Indian captain Rohit Sharma.
According to a report in the Hindustan Times, Shubman Gill has been released from the hospital following his treatment for dengue fever. Cricbuzz had previously mentioned that he was admitted to a hospital in Chennai.
Shubman Gill Set to Miss Crucial Match Against Pakistan
While he has been released from the hospital, his availability for the October 14th match against Pakistan in the ICC World Cup 2023 remains uncertain. Should he be unable to participate in the Pakistan match scheduled at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, his next opportunity to play would be in the match against Bangladesh at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.
India will profoundly feel the absence of Shubman Gill due to his incredible performance over the past two years. He has consistently been the leading Indian cricketer in all three formats of the game.
