Selena Gomez- My Mind and Me Review

Selena Gomez, a successful singer, actor and producer, has laid it all out in front of the viewers in this documentary. The events shown in the documentary are taken from the diary entries of Selena Gomez and her best friend, Raquelle Stevens. It sheds light on her career and struggles.

From a heartbreaking breakup with Justin Bieber that continues to haunt her to some extent to showcasing her mental breakdown and fight with lupus and bipolar disorder. Selena Gomez’s- My Mind and Me is not your typical documentary that showcases an artist’s successful or disastrous life. It is about the psyche of Selena Gomez and her mental journey amidst all the controversies, illnesses and moments of psychotic breakout that plagued her throughout her career.

The documentary refrains from suggesting a happy and fulfilled for Selena Gomez. Instead, it hints that the singer is still a work in progress, and she is fighting a battle every day that we won’t come to understand no matter how much we try to perceive it. Each person deals with certain things that others can’t comprehend. In just about 90 minutes, Alek Keshishian has done wonders with this complex documentary.

The documentary follows the life of Selena Gomez from 2016, the time around The Revival Tour and continues to showcase her life till now. Selena Gomez’s- My Mind and Me is precisely what its title suggests. True to its core, the documentary is a must-watch for those who are not rattled by seeing mental agony. For those who are highly affected by emotional and mental turmoil, you people may skip it.

It’s uncomfortable but honest. I believe this is what the director was aiming it to be, and she has flawlessly succeeded. For all the Jelena fans, there is a lot of new detail you may find by watching this documentary. But let me say it isn’t the happy memories. All in all, the rawness of this documentary will surely turn it into a classic in the upcoming years.
