Salaam Venky Story: Based on the book ‘The Last Hurrah’ by Shrikant Murthy, Salaam Venky is inspired by a real-life story. The movie follows a young boy who suffers from a chronic illness Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy that causes him great discomfort. He decides to leave the world by having the act of Euthanasia done to him. However, the Indian legal system terms Euthanasia as an illegal practice which forces his mother to challenge the existing laws relating to Euthanasia in court.
Salaam Venky Review
Salaam Venky is an emotional rollercoaster that will make you shed some tears. The movie hits the perfect balance between being an emotional drama and an inspiring tale. It has a unique storyline that is based on a subject which is very underexplored in Indian cinema. Probably, other than Guzaarish no other Bollywood film has ever used the concept of Euthanasia at its core.
This uniqueness lends a film a fresh sense of curiosity which has been missing from Bollywood movies nowadays. Also, who does not love watching true inspiring stories coming to life in cinemas? This is one of the best emotional dramas that I have seen this year. Salaam Venky is a carefully constructed film that keeps everything crisp.
Kajol is no doubt the life of the film. Now, I can’t imagine any other Bollywood actress playing this role. She has nailed it to perfection. Her performance uplifts Salaam Venky even more. On the other hand, Vishal Jethwa is unparalleled in his portrayal of Venky. He will make you fall in love with the figure of Venky.
Rahul Bose making a return to the film industry after quite a long time is sincere and good to watch. Aahana Kumra and Prakash Raj are brilliant while Aamir’s cameo is something that leaves an impact. The rest of the cast has also done a fantastic job. Mithoon’s music also connects with the viewers making the film Salaam Venky a perfect movie to watch in theatres.
Salaam Venky Review Suggestion: Must-watch in the theatres this weekend
