The nation eagerly anticipates the release of Sukumar and Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 on August 15, but rumors of a delay have surfaced. Media speculations suggest the sequel has been postponed due to reshoots. Additionally, antagonist Fahadh Faasil recently received his schedule and has just started filming his part.
Editor Navin Nooli is finalizing the cut of Pushpa 2 after Karthika Srinivas’s departure, while director Sukumar is reportedly unhappy with the visual effects, potentially extending post-production. Consequently, the film might miss its August 15 release date, though no official confirmation has been given by the director or cast.
The potential delay of Pushpa 2 is a significant setback, as it would miss the lucrative August 15 national holiday, which could have resulted in a record-breaking first-day worldwide gross of 180-200 crores, including over 65 crores from the Hindi version alone. Releasing on a normal date is expected to yield around 150 crores worldwide on the first day, leading to a potential loss of 30 crores and missing out on the extended four-day weekend.

Pushpa 2 will still have a significant opening, but it will miss the boost from the August 15 national holiday. With Pushpa 2 likely delayed, NTR’s Devara, initially set for October 10, is now eyeing an August 15 release to leverage the holiday period.
Similarly, Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again might revert to its original August 15 release date to capitalize on the four-day weekend. Consequently, Pushpa 2 might consider the September 27 release date, which was previously considered by Devara and is also a favourable release window.
