New RRTS Corridor: Travel from Gurugram to Greater Noida in 25 Minutes, Rapid Rail Will Make the Journey Pleasant

Category-

The central government is focusing on enhancing transportation facilities in the National Capital Region (NCR). To facilitate easy movement between NCR cities, roads and overbridges are being constructed, and metro services are being expanded. The Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) has already been developed to connect Delhi to Meerut. Now, there is a plan to link Gurugram in Haryana with Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh through the RRTS. This corridor will play a significant role in improving connectivity between the two cities and reducing traffic congestion.

Recently, an agreement for the construction of this new RRTS corridor was reached during a meeting between Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and the Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal. Apart from this corridor, the meeting also discussed the expansion of the Gurugram Metro and other metro projects. The rapid rail on this corridor will have a speed of 160 kilometers per hour, enabling the journey between Gurugram and Greater Noida to be completed in just 25 minutes.

Route Details

The Gurugram-Greater Noida corridor will be 60 kilometers long and will connect Rajiv Chowk in Gurugram with Noida Sector-142 and Surajpur in Greater Noida. The RRTS will facilitate smooth travel between major hubs like Gurugram, Faridabad, and Noida, providing significant relief to commuters. There are plans to build a total of eight stations along this route, including one at Bata Chowk in Faridabad. The project is estimated to cost approximately ₹15,000 crore. This development is expected to reduce traffic pressure in NCR and contribute to lowering air pollution.

Discussion on Other Projects

The meeting between Chief Minister Nayab Saini and Minister Manohar Lal also resulted in an agreement to extend the Delhi-Panipat RRTS corridor up to Karnal. Additionally, there were discussions on extending the Gurugram Metro to AIIMS Badsa and connecting Indira Gandhi International Airport to Gurugram, Faridabad, and Jewar Airport through the RRTS.

Metro Extension from Gurugram to Panchgaon

The Haryana government has submitted a funding proposal to the central government for the metro extension from Gurugram Sector-56 to Panchgaon. Approval from the center is expected once the detailed project report (DPR) is completed. There is also a proposal under consideration to extend two new metro lines from Palam Vihar and the RRTS from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Dharuhera, Bawal, and Shahjahanpur in Rajasthan.
