Never Have I Ever Season 5 Plot
“Never Have I Ever” revolves around Devi Vishwakumar, a 15-year-old Indian-American Tamil Hindu girl living in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles. Following the sudden death of her father, Devi experiences psychological trauma that causes her to lose sensation in her legs, rendering her unable to walk for three months. However, she miraculously regains her ability to walk when she is motivated to see her crush, Paxton Hall-Yoshida.
Devi’s freshman year of high school was socially challenging, and she is determined to change her social status. However, navigating relationships with friends, family, and her own emotions proves to be a difficult task. Devi’s friend Eleanor discovers that her absentee mother has secretly returned to town without contacting her, while her other friend Fabiola struggles to come out as gay. Devi’s cousin Kamala, who lives with her, hides her college boyfriend from her family, as they expect her to have an arranged marriage with a man named Prashant whom she has never met.

In the following year, Devi grapples with her grief, personal identity, and school life. Her relationship with her mother, Nalini, becomes strained, and she also faces romantic dilemmas between Paxton and Ben. Devi cheats on both of them with each other, which complicates her emotions further. A new student named Aneesa Qureshi joins the school, and Devi initially feels jealous of her popularity, starting a rumor about her anorexia.
However, they eventually reconcile and become close friends. Devi also discovers her mother’s romantic involvement with Dr. Jackson, which upsets her as she feels her mother has moved on too quickly from her father’s death. Devi reconciles with Paxton, and they begin dating, but their relationship faces challenges due to gossip and Devi’s insecurities. Devi ends up hooking up with Ben, leading to Paxton breaking up with her.
