Mere Husband Ki Biwi Box Office Day 1: Arjun’s Film Opens Slowly, Fails to Surpass ‘Chhaava,’ Earns This Much

The romantic comedy Mere Husband Ki Biwi hit theatres on February 21, competing against the box office giant Chhaava. The film, based on a love triangle, stars Arjun Kapoor, Rakul Preet Singh, and Bhumi Pednekar in lead roles. Despite extensive promotions by the cast, the film’s earnings on Day 1 have been underwhelming. Let’s find out how much it collected on its opening day.

Disappointing Opening Day Collection

Directed by Mudassar Aziz, Mere Husband Ki Biwi failed to make a strong impact on its first day. According to Sacnilk, the film collected only ₹1.5 crore net in India, with an occupancy rate of just 12.17%.

All eyes are now on the weekend box office performance. It remains to be seen whether Arjun Kapoor’s film can attract more audiences on Saturday and Sunday. If the film fails to perform well over the weekend, recovering its budget could become a challenge.

Apart from the lead cast, the film also features comedian Harsh Gujral in a supporting role, along with Shakti Kapoor and Dino Morea. While the trailer received a good response from audiences, the actual box office performance has been disappointing.

‘Chhaava’ Overshadows Arjun Kapoor’s Film

One of the major reasons for Mere Husband Ki Biwi’s slow start is its clash with Vicky Kaushal’s historical drama Chhaava. The latter continues to dominate the box office, leaving Arjun Kapoor’s film struggling.

Even on its eighth day, Chhaava managed to collect ₹23 crore, bringing its total India net collection to ₹242.25 crore in just eight days. The film’s phenomenal success has made it tough for Mere Husband Ki Biwi to compete.
