Mahakumbh 2025: Special Vande Bharat Train to Run for Prayagraj from Today, Sangam Station to Remain Closed Until Tomorrow

The central government has introduced a special Vande Bharat train to facilitate pilgrims visiting Mahakumbh. This train will operate between today and February 17, allowing pilgrims to travel easily to Prayagraj. With high-speed service, the train will offer a comfortable travel experience. Considering the increasing number of pilgrims attending the Mahakumbh Mela, the Ministry of Railways has announced this special train service.

This special train, numbered 02252, will run between New Delhi (NDLS) and Varanasi (BSB) on February 15, 16, and 17, 2025. It will depart from New Delhi at 05:30 AM and arrive in Varanasi at 02:20 PM. According to Northern Railway officials, the Vande Bharat train has been introduced to ensure a comfortable and time-efficient journey for the pilgrims. This train is equipped with modern amenities, including comfortable seating, high-speed travel, Wi-Fi, onboard infotainment, and enhanced cleanliness.

Sangam Railway Station Closed Until February 16 Due to Heavy Crowd

Due to the massive crowd of devotees, Prayagraj Sangam Railway Station in Daraganj has been closed until February 16. The RPF and GRP personnel deployed at the station have been instructed to remain on high alert.

Since early morning, a large number of people have started arriving at Mahakumbh Nagar due to the weekend. The Sangam station is located close to Mahakumbh Nagar, and to prevent overcrowding, entry into the station has been restricted until February 16.

However, passengers who arrive at the station will be allowed to exit, but no one will be permitted to enter. Notably, due to the heavy influx of devotees before Maghi Purnima, the station had been closed from February 9 to February 14. It was scheduled to reopen on the night of February 14, but considering the ongoing crowd, the closure has been extended until midnight on February 16.

According to Kuldeep Tiwari, Senior DCM of Northern Railway’s Lucknow Division, passengers are advised to board trains from Prayag and Phaphamau stations, where special trains are also being operated.
