Permanent account number or PAN has been receiving quite a lot of updates in the rules and now a final date of linking your PAN card with your AADHAAR has been declared. Its the seventh time that the date has been rescheduled and it’s set to December 31st, 2019 this time.

Link Your PAN to Your AADHAAR Before 31st December, Deadline Finalised.

The linkage of PAN to your AADHAAR has been made mandatory and if you fail to do so then your PAN, the one which you have been using all this time without any hassle would be marked as Invalid and declared prohibited for use.

“In case of failure to intimate the Aadhaar number, PAN allotted to the person shall be deemed to be invalid and other provisions of this Act shall apply as if the person had not applied for allotment of PAN,” the income tax department said.

The invalidation of PAN can bring in a bunch of problems and you’d face a lot of hassle in your day to day life whenever a PAN is mandatory for any kind of service. The income tax filing could have been affected but the new rule which allows the user to quote their AADHAAR instead of PAN in such cases might as well work for you.

Past the due date, there might be chances that the due date can get extended again or that the invalid PAN card might get some revival scheme by the Income Tax Department. But it’s advised to get your PAN enrolled with your AADHAAR for seamless procedures from here on ahead if you hadn’t done so already.

The procedure to link your PAN with your AADHAAR is a pretty simple one and you can easily get it done while sitting from the comfort of your homes with the use of internet connection only. The steps for linking have been mentioned down below.

Linking Through SMS

In this procedure, all you need to do is write an SMS such as this UIDPAN<SPACE><12 digit Aadhaar><Space><10 digit PAN and send it over to 567678 or 56161. That’s all and if you’re information in both the documents matches correctly then your PAN will be linked to your AADHAAR.

Linking Through E-filing Portal

This is an alternative method and you have to have an internet connection for the same. Login to the E-filing portal and click onto the button marked as ‘Link AADHAAR’, which will take you to the next page where you have to fill subsequent details.

Fill in your PAN number and your AADHAAR number in the designated box and then verify it using the OTP received on your mobile number linked with AADHAAR. After the OTP verification, the process has been done and your PAN has been linked with AADHAAR.

Make sure that the information in AADHAAR and PAN match each other, otherwise the process might not work and you need to alter the right information in one of the documents to get it corrected.
