Two films are currently dominating the ticket counters. The first is ‘Jaat’, released in theatres on April 10, and the second is ‘Kesari Chapter 2’, which hit cinemas a week later on April 18, 2025. Jaat is an action drama, while Kesari Chapter 2 reveals the untold truth of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Let’s take a look at how both films performed in the crucial Monday test—who won over the audience and who slowed down at the box office.
Kesari Chapter 2 Continues to Impress at the Box Office
Directed by debutant Karan Singh Tyagi, Kesari Chapter 2 stars Akshay Kumar in the lead role, alongside Ananya Panday and R. Madhavan. Made on a budget of ₹150 crore, the film has completed four days in theatres and has collected ₹34 crore so far. On Day 4 (Monday), it earned ₹4.50 crore.
Although the film still has a long way to go to recover its budget, it has already surpassed the total box office collection of several 2025 releases like Emergency (₹18.35 crore), Azaad (₹6.35 crore), Lovyapa (₹6.85 crore), Badass Ravi Kumar (₹8.38 crore), Mere Husband Ki Biwi (₹10.31 crore), Crazy (₹13.99 crore), Fateh (₹13.35 crore), Superboys of Malegaon (₹2.15 crore), and Deva (₹33.9 crore).
Jaat Nearing a Major Milestone
Jaat, made on a budget of ₹100 crore, stars Sunny Deol in the lead role, with Randeep Hooda and Vineet Kumar Singh playing the antagonists. The film has been in theatres for 12 days now and has earned ₹76.40 crore till date. On Day 12 (Monday), it earned ₹2 crore—₹2.50 crore less than Kesari Chapter 2’s Monday collection.
Despite the slower pace, Jaat continues to perform steadily and is on the verge of breaking Sunny Deol’s own record. His 2001 blockbuster Gadar earned ₹76.88 crore, and Jaat is just a step away from surpassing that number.
