Mithun Chakraborty, the veteran actor, is set to bring Rabindranath Tagore’s timeless short story “Kabuliwala” to the big screen. He will portray the role of Rahmat in the film, and the first look was recently unveiled. The movie will be directed by Suman Ghosh, who previously worked with Mithun in the Bengali film “Nobel Chor.” In the first look, Mithun is seen wearing a tunic shirt, pants, and a turban, representing the traditional Afghan attire.

Director Suman Ghosh mentioned that their film, inspired by Tagore’s timeless creation, Kabuliwala, pays tribute to the 1957 Bengali adaptation, which deeply touched cinephiles with the remarkable performance by the esteemed actor Chhabi Biswas as the protagonist. Their cinematic effort aims to beautifully capture the essence of love and longing, as Rahmat finds comfort in the innocence of the young girl, reminding him of his own child whom he had to leave behind in his homeland.
