Joan is an upcoming British six-part crime drama television series created by Anna Symon for ITVX and The CW. The series stars Sophie Turner as Joan Hannington, a real-life figure known as “the Godmother” in the British criminal underworld. Paul Frift is the producer, and Richard Laxton directs the series.
The six-part series was announced in November 2022, featuring Sophie Turner as the lead, portraying Joan Hannington. Created by Anna Symon, the series is adapted from Hannington’s 2004 memoir, “I Am What I Am: The True Story of Britain’s Most Notorious Jewel Thief.” Symon and Hannington collaborated during the writing process. Produced by Snowed-In Productions, the series is co-produced with All3Media International, which will handle distribution outside the UK. The CW will broadcast the series in the United States.
Joan Release Date
The series is expected to premiere in the UK on the streaming service ITVX, ITV’s new platform, in Autumn 2024. It will also air on The CW in the US in late 2024 as part of their 2024–25 television season.
