IndiGo has launched a month-long “Add-ons Fiesta,” offering customers a flat 20 percent discount on various services, India’s largest airline announced on September 5.

This offer comes amid rising airfares ahead of the festive season, a peak time for travel as people head home for celebrations or go on holidays. The promotion, available on IndiGo’s website and mobile app, applies to both domestic and international flights for services such as seat selection, excess baggage, priority check-in, and meal combinations. The discount is valid for bookings made until September 30.

Through the Seat Select feature, customers can choose their preferred seating. Additionally, they can pre-book extra baggage or sports equipment. The Fast Forward service offers priority check-in and boarding, while the 6E Prime and 6E Seat & Eat packages allow travellers to combine seat selection with meal options and priority services for a more personalised experience, the airline added.

While airlines like IndiGo, Vistara, and Air India Express have been offering discounts, this has done little to lower the airfares, which continue to climb. Vistara’s Freedom Sale on August 15 offered one-way domestic fares starting at Rs 1,578, and Air India Express’ Flash Sale provided fares as low as Rs 1,037 for bookings made by August 25.

Travellers planning flights for Diwali, Durga Puja, and Dussehra are encountering steep fares. According to Rajnish Kumar, group co-CEO of the travel platform Ixigo, airfares to popular destinations like Goa and Jaipur have risen by 15-20 percent for October and November.

Advance flight bookings for the festive period have surged by 30-35 percent compared to the previous year, further driving up prices.

At 12:29, IndiGo’s parent company, InterGlobe Aviation, was trading at Rs 4,833.45 on the National Stock Exchange, a 0.38 percent increase from the previous close.
