Huma Qureshi has revealed that the Dobaaraa director Anurag Kashyap had promised to cast her in a movie when she met for the time the first time. However, the reply by the actress made the director say. “Tu Paagal Hai Kya.”

Huma Qureshi recently shared fond memories of her first meeting with Anurag Kashyap. She recounted the hilarious incident which actually garnered her a role in the hit Bollywood film Gangs of Wasseypur. The actress recalled the anecdote which led to her casting without an audition. However, Huma Qureshi was called crazy by the director Anurag Kashyap in their first encounter.

In her struggling days as an actress, Huma Qureshi used to shoot for commercial advertisements. She landed an opportunity for a Samsung commercial opposite the Bollywood actor Aamir Khan. Fortunately for her, Anurag Kashyap was directing the commercial. The Gangs of Wasseypur director immediately realised her talent and said to her that he would offer her a movie. However, Huma refused to believe him at that moment.

Huma Qureshi First Meeting With Anurag Kashyap:

Huma recalled in an interview with Mashable how she was offered a role by Anurag Kashyap, which she did not really believe would actually happen. She said, “It was a four-day shoot in Wai. And we were shooting on the second day when Anurag said ‘I will cast you in a picture.’ And me, gadhi no. 1, I said, ‘main to abhi aai hoon Bombay. Maine suna hai bahot struggle karni padti hai. Aise aasaani se picture nahi milti.’ Then he is like, ‘tu paagal hai kya’ and I am like ‘thodi si.’ So that’s how Gangs of Wasseypur happened. I didn’t audition for the film.”

She further added, “I was lucky. My struggling period was not very long. I was quite blessed like that. The first picture I got so easily, and the next 4-5 films also I got very easily. After that, I couldn’t understand what do I do now. I never thought this far, imagination never reached that point.”

We wish her the best of luck for the future and hope that Huma Qureshi and Anurag Kashyap come together for another movie like Gangs of Wasseypur in the near future.
