How To Change Your Aadhaar Card Credentials In 2020

Category-

Aadhaar card is a unique one-time government-issued identity card for all Indian residents. It has a unique 12-digit random number that records an individual’s biometric and demographic data in the country.

The Indian residents are always advised to keep their details updated on the Aadhaar. You have your hands-on details on the platform such as mAadhaar App, PAN card application, all online Aadhaar facilities, DigiLocker, mobile re-verification, mutual Fund linking with Aadhaar, online EPF claims and withdrawal and Umang App services. And that is why it is always a good step to regularly update it.

As per your convenience, you can update your phone number in your Aadhaar details by choosing the online portal or the offline portal method. For accessing the online portal, you should have the number linked with the UIDAI to get the OTP.

But if you have lost or changed the linked number with your Aadhaar card, then you can check out the offline portal method which is as easy as the online method. The detailed process of changing your number is down below.

Changing your Aadhaar Number Online

Last year, the Unique Identification Authority of India or UIDAI closed down the service to change your Aadhaar number online to avoid any leaks of important personal details.

However, you can download the application form and submit it online to save time. This only requires you to have the mobile number which you earlier linked with your Aadhaar credentials.

Follow the below steps to find out what you will have to do to change your phone number on Aadhaar.

Change your Mobile Number in Aadhar with OTP

Step 1: Click on the official Aadhaar portal link given here: https://ask.uidai.gov.in/

Step 2: In the log-in page, enter your mobile number. The submission will open a webpage that will show your details on the screen. Crosscheck the details and click on “Send OTP”.

Step 3: Enter the OTP received in the right-hand side box and click “Submit OTP and Process”.

Step 4: A webpage that contains your Aadhaar services will open. Click on Update Aadhaar.

Step 5: The next screen will pop up and show you different fields including Name, Aadhar Number, Resident Type, and what you want to update.

Step 6: Since we want to change and link a new number, fill all the mandatory fields. After filling details, select “Mobile Number” under “What do you want to update” section. Click proceed.

Step 7: A next screen will ask you to enter the mobile number with a captcha. Fill all the required fields. Click on “Send OTP”. Enter and verify the received OTP and click “Save and Proceed”.

Step 8: Now crosscheck all the important details for one last time. Click “Submit”.

Step 9: In the next step, you will see a Success Screen with your Appointment id. Click on the “Book Appointment” option. This will book a slot at the Aadhaar enrollment center.

Book an Appointment

Now that you have booked an appointment after filling out the right details, you are one step away only from the verification. To finalize the booking, you are required to search for a nearby location where you will be going for verification.

For this: Search for an enrollment center through their center name, Pincode, state, etc. Pick any convenient option for a nearby location of the MP Online portal for you and click on get details.

You can check the availability of a portal from the green and red dot, where green slots are available and the red ones are booked. After finding the nearest portal, crosscheck all the necessary details and click on confirm.

Change your Mobile Number in Aadhar without OTP

If you are unable to follow the online steps, do not worry because you can also link your mobile number with your Aadhar in offline mode.

Step 1: Visit an Aadhaar Enrolment/Update Centre.

Step 2: Ask out for an Aadhaar Update Form and fill it. Keep in mind to enter your current active mobile number. Also, it is not necessary to take any previously linked mobile numbers.
