Carlos Saldanha will direct the upcoming American live-action/animated fantasy film Harold and the Purple Crayon, which is based on Crockett Johnson’s 1955 children’s book of the same name. Zachary Levi plays Harold, the adventurous protagonist who grows up with a magical purple crayon. In this sequel, Harold emerges from the pages of the book and into the physical world, embarking on a journey that teaches him a lot about real life. With a supporting cast that includes Lil Rel Howery, Benjamin Bottani, Jemaine Clement, Tanya Reynolds, and Zooey Deschanel, the film promises to be a fun continuation of Harold’s adventures.
Harold and the Purple Canyon Budget
Scheduled for release in the United States by Sony Pictures Releasing on August 2, 2024, Harold and the Purple Crayon is a production of Columbia Pictures in association with producer John Davis of Davis Entertainment and a Scholastic Entertainment production. The film is estimated to be made on a budget of around USD 100 million.
