The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will lay optical fiber cables across all metro corridors in the National Capital Region (NCR). This will provide passengers with high-speed internet access, resolving connectivity issues within metro trains.
The initiative will first be implemented on the Magenta Line (Botanical Garden-Krishna Park Extension) and Pink Line (Shiv Vihar-Majlis Park). According to DMRC, after these two corridors, the work will be completed in a phased manner across all metro lines within six months.
DMRC’s Statement
Anuj Dayal, DMRC’s Principal Executive Director (Public Relations), stated that DMRC has partnered with Beckhal Digital Technologies Private Limited for this project. The company will be responsible for laying and maintaining the optical fiber network.

5G Connectivity Across the Metro Network
A strong optical fiber network is essential for providing high-speed internet. With this infrastructure, metro passengers across Delhi and NCR will be able to access 5G connectivity seamlessly. This initiative aligns with the Digital India vision of the central government.
The project will also help telecom companies offer faster and more reliable internet services, ensuring better connectivity for Delhi and NCR residents. Currently, Delhi Metro covers approximately 393 kilometers, and underground sections often face connectivity issues. Once optical fiber cables are installed, these issues will be significantly reduced.
