Flipkart is following in the steps of one of its biggest competitors, Amazon, and the e-commerce gaint is now branding third party products under its name. The products come under a brand name of Flipkart smart buy just like Amazon had named its lineup of products as Amazon basic.

The bigger news is that now Flipkart has partnered with Nokia and planning to launch a new lineup of smart Television in the market. Flipkart has already partnered with Motorola for making smart Television and now they had rolled in Nokia too.

“Working with Nokia allows us to further expand the choice of high-quality, technologically advanced products for Indian consumers. Nokia is a globally popular technology brand and enjoys immense brand recall, so we’re excited to start this journey with them to extend the brand into a fast-growing product segment.” Adarsh Menon, SVP and Head – Private Brands, Electronics and Furniture at Flipkart mentioned in an official press statement.

There is a hot market for smart TVs right now and every tech company is trying to just take the leverage of the same. The segment is lead by Xiomi’s Smart TV and recently One Plus made its mark in the segment with its smart TVs. Although it failed to match the expectation of a heavy user who would invest the amount they were asking for their television set.

Nokia is making a move into the segment of smart TVs at the very right moment when the iron is hot and they are planning to build their market on their flagship quality which is brand trust. HMD global was having licensed to sell the Nokia brand products but now Flipkart is having that too and they are predicting huge sales from the same.

The finesse mobile gaint made it into the television market back in 1995 and this time they will earn revenue from their brand name which will be used by Flipkart. The e-commerce company will be manufacturing and selling the Nokia brand Tv on their platform and the revenues will then be shared with Nokia.

“Today marks the start of an exciting new chapter for the Nokia brand (not affiliated with HMD Global) in a new category. And where better to start than in India, where our brand has been trusted for quality, design, and reliability. Flipkart’s understanding of the needs and behaviors of Indian consumers and the power of its reach will help it make Nokia branded smart TVs accessible and affordable to many.” Vipul Mehrotra, Vice President, Nokia Brand Partnerships also chimes in the discussion.

Nokia was out of the market for quite a long time and although they made a comeback affiliated with Microsoft but couldn’t manage to elongate their stay. Recently with their new series of phones, they are at least getting a good amount of recognition which they missed from the Indian market which once used to trust Nokia blindly.

Now let’s see how well they keep up in the television market where there are plenty of established players who are already killing it with their devices.
