After observing huge traffics on toll plazas led the Union Ministry of Road Transportation and Highways to take a decision for making FASTag mandatory for your vehicle. So, if you are planning to go for a road trip after Monday Midnight, then make sure you have a FASTag. Basically, FASTag is a Radio Frequency Identification tag, which facilitates electronic payment of fees at toll plazas. Vehicles without FASTags will have to pay twice the toll amount.

FASTag Mandatory from February 15
Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said that the deadline will not be extended at any cost and vehicle owners have to buy an e-payment facility immediately. All the toll plaza lanes will be declared as FASTag lane from midnight of February 15/16.
The working process of FASTag is really simple, a sticker will be attached to the windshield of the vehicle that contains an RFID-enabled barcode that will be linked with the registration details of your vehicle. This barcode will be scanned by a scanner that is mounted on top and the amount will be deducted from your prepaid balance, and this is how unnecessary traffic will reduce at toll plazas.
How to Buy FASTag for Your Vehicle?
It is easy to buy FASTag for your vehicle, either you can buy from certain toll plazas across the country by submitting identification and vehicle registration documents or you can also buy it on Paytm and Amazon website or on the websites of certain banks like SBI, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Axis bank, etc.
