The Growth of Super Billionaires

Individuals with wealth exceeding $50 billion, often referred to as “super billionaires,” have witnessed a remarkable surge in their fortunes. According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, there are currently 25 such individuals worldwide, with a combined net worth of approximately $3.3 trillion—comparable to France’s nominal GDP.

Two Indian Billionaires in the Elite Club

Out of the 28 super billionaires identified by Forbes, two hail from India: Mukesh Ambani, chairman of Reliance Industries, and Gautam Adani, chairman of the Adani Group.

Ambani’s current fortune stands at $89.2 billion, while Adani’s wealth amounts to $52.4 billion, as per Forbes’ latest estimates.

Leading the global wealth charts is Elon Musk, the entrepreneur behind Tesla, SpaceX, and X (formerly Twitter). With a staggering net worth nearing $419.10 billion, Musk is the wealthiest person on the planet. His fortune is 21 times greater than that of Yoshiaki Tsutsumi, who topped Forbes’ first billionaire list in 1987 with a net worth of $20 billion.
