The country’s three major telecom companies Reliance Jio, Airtel and Vodafone Idea have increased the prices of their recharge plans. The increased prices have come into effect from the month of July. At the same time, the government company BSNL is still a cheap option for the people. This issue of increase in recharge plan is bothering the users a lot and is also gaining momentum on social media.

Jio users are looking very angry, meanwhile BoycottJio is also trending on social media. Users are talking about switching to BSNL. Along with this, ‘BSNL ki ghar wapsi’ also started trending on X. Actually, BSNL’s recharge plans are still cheaper than Jio, Airtel and Vi. If you want to switch to BSNL, then the number will have to be ported. Know what is the process and things you have to keep in mind?

How to port the number on BSNL?

  • If you want to port the number, you have to send an SMS. For this, type PORT<space>10 digit mobile number and send SMS to 1900. Customers of Jammu and Kashmir will have to dial 1900 and send the request. After this you will get UPC (Unique Porting Code).
  • The UPC code allotted to any customer remains valid for 15 days from the date of sending the request. In the case of Jammu and Kashmir, this validity is 30 days.
  • You can also go to BSNL’s customer service center or official franchise or retailer to get the number ported. Here you have to fill the customer application form. At present, no charge is being taken by the company for the port.
  • After the process is completed, you will be given a new SIM card. After the port request is approved, the porting date and time will be told by BSNL. At this time you have to remove your old SIM card and put a new SIM card.
  • If you face any kind of problem in this process, then you can dial the toll-free number 1800-180-1503.
  • Keep in mind that while porting the number, do not get a long term recharge done on your existing SIM card. After the port process is completed, you will not be able to avail the recharge plan of the old company and your existing plan will expire.
