Drishyam 2 Story: Fast forward to 7 years after the events of Drishyam 1. The Salgaonkar is still shaking after the events that took place 7 years ago What appeared to be a happy ending for the family is not something that the viewers would have imagined. Vijay Salgaonkar has opened a cinema hall in Goa. His daughter Anju could not get past the horrific events and sought medical help.
Salgaonkar’s wife Nandini is always wary of her surrounding. She thinks someone is after them and they can be caught at any time. All of this sets up perfectly for the plot which introduced Tarun Ahlawat as the new IG. Tarun is a good friend of Meera who has now settled in London and only visits the area back on the death anniversary of her husband. The new IG studies the case of Salgaonkar and realises that everything does not fall into order. What follows this forms the core of the story.
Drishyam 2 Review
A remake of the Malayalam film of the same name, Drishyam 2 may seem a bit lacklustre to the people who walk into the theatre with the expectations of being blown away by the insane mystery and drama. The film is a gradual builder with its narrative and by the first half ends, we realise that something big is actually around the corner.
The movie is a slow-burner in the first half which is perhaps a bit of a weakness of this otherwise spectacular film. Aamil Keeyan Khan and Abhishek Pathak’s screenplay is gripping and the dialogues are crisp and on point, it seems that the film lacks a bit of spark at the start but that works in the favour of the movie as it completely blows you away in the last 30 minutes.
The insane twists and turns and where everything you would have predicted falls apart and the film takes its own direction will give you goosebumps. Each second raises the tension in the air. But the sense of of thrill you experienced in Drishyam 1 is not going to be the same in the sequel.
Ajay Devgn is still impeccable as the lead and Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutta and Mrunal Jadhav are equally good in their roles as Salgaonkar family members. Akshaye Khanna is a brilliant actor and his portrayal of Tarun is extremely well-written and executed. He is one of the highlights of the film. Tabu and Rajat Kapoor are dependable and the rest of the cast is also decent.
Drishyam 2 Review Final Words
All in all, a great suspense thriller that you should watch in the theatres this weekend. Hardly, a few Bollywood movies can do what Drishyam 2 has done with its intriguing storyline.
