Lieutenant-Governor V.K. Saxena has approved a relaxation in educational qualifications for recruiting victims of the 1984 Sikh riots to multi-tasking staff (MTS) positions, according to a statement from Raj Niwas on Friday.
Following this approval, the minimum educational requirement has been lowered from Class X to Class VIII, thereby expanding eligibility for more candidates. This relaxation has been under consideration for decades. The L-G has also instructed the relevant departments to explore employment options for the children of deceased or elderly applicants.

This decision was made after a thorough review of cases revealed that several applicants had previously been denied employment despite meeting eligibility requirements. The move follows appeals from the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee and a delegation of victims who requested that the L-G consider all eligible applicants.
