The Delhi government has mandated regular inspections of state-run schools to review basic facilities and improve infrastructure and academic standards.
As per a circular issued on November 1, the Directorate of Education (DoE) has been directed to conduct inspections across all government schools. These evaluations will focus on ensuring the availability of essential amenities, including clean drinking water, proper sanitation, adequate lighting, and sufficient desks, doors, and windows in classrooms.
Inspectors will also assess factors such as the student-to-classroom ratio, the organization of sections, and the implementation of child-safety measures, according to the circular.
Under these guidelines, regional education directors, district deputy directors, and zone-specific deputy directors are required to inspect schools and educational departments within their areas of responsibility three times a week.
The circular further instructs officers to ensure discipline within school premises, verify teacher presence in classrooms, identify potential blind spots, and check the operation of CCTV cameras.
Additionally, inspectors must submit online reports on the same day as each visit and provide a signed hard copy to the inspection branch headquarters within seven days.
The deputy directors of education (district/zone) are also tasked with promptly addressing any deficiencies mentioned in inspection reports and conducting regular visits to foster collaboration among stakeholders for enhancing school infrastructure and educational quality.
This directive aims to systematically address issues within state-run schools, focusing on both infrastructure and safety, to create a better learning environment for students.
