Citadel Web Series Review: Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden starrer Citadel, created by the Russo Brothers, is an ultimate spy thriller that is all set to take the world by storm. The first two episodes of the show have foreshadowed what to expect from the upcoming four episodes of the thriller. The world-building in Citadel has been fantastic so far, and you can expect it to get even better in the remaining four episodes.

Amazon Prime’s Citadel Web Series Review

Citadel is much more than we’ve heard thus far, thanks to the Russo Brothers (Joe and Anthony Russo) and their gifted writing team. For a show that hasn’t even revealed its tip in the trailer, the iceberg is submerged deeper than we expected. The idea of a show that looks at the world as a whole rather than just ‘a’ industry is admirable. The canvas is vast, and anyone from anywhere on the planet is welcome to contribute. The show is set in a world where spies are trained to be ruthless assassins who can blend in like chameleons.

The nicest thing about this web series, which has some fantastic action and brilliant cinematography, is that it doesn’t presume the spectator understands the past based on what’s going on right now. It takes time and effort to describe just how vast the world around us is. The year is 2030, Citadel has been around for more than a century, and Manticore is around the same age. Both civilizations have changed and adapted to new technology and basic practices.

The admiration for Priyanka Chopra and her professional achievements rises with each feather put to her hat. All Asians should be overjoyed that she is the first face of a major global IP created by the Avengers: Endgame filmmakers. The actor takes the event seriously. She throws everything she’s got at Nadia, including her charisma, acting talent, physicality, and punches with sharp kicks. She excels in a magnificent red gown and prim and correct attire, preparing us for the finest.

Mason, as played by Richard Madden, is a likeable guy. In this case, we are the one who has forgotten everything and is a blank slate. He is thrust into conditions about which he has little knowledge, but he must survive. His humorous timing is superb, and he has a stunning appearance. His connection to Chopra is notable since it alludes to an intriguing narrative between the two on the web series.

All in all, Citadel is a gripping action thriller that is expected to get even better in the upcoming four episodes. However, one thing that really disappoints me about the show is that it is only about 35 minutes long for each episode which is just unfair to the viewers who were expecting it to be a full-blown series of about 45-50 minutes long episodes. Originally, the show was planned to be an eight-episode spy thriller, but despite having an astronomical budget of US $300 million, the total number of episodes was reduced to six in total.
