If you regularly withdraw cash from ATMs, it’s time to be cautious. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has issued a new framework regarding ATM transaction charges, which will come into effect from May 1, 2025. Under the new rules, you’ll have to pay higher charges for every transaction beyond the free limit.
What Are the Key Changes in ATM Transaction Charges?
- As per RBI’s new guidelines:
- In metro cities, customers will get 3 free ATM transactions per month.
- In non-metro cities, 5 free transactions per month will be allowed.
- These free limits include both cash and non-cash transactions.
- After exceeding the free limit, a charge of ₹23 + GST will apply per transaction.
- The rules will apply to Cash Recycler Machines (CRMs) as well, except for cash deposits.
