Amitabh Bachchan Becomes the Highest Tax-Paying Celebrity, Surpasses Shah Rukh Khan

Amitabh Bachchan has set a new record as India’s highest tax-paying celebrity for the financial year 2024-25, surpassing Shah Rukh Khan. This year, his total earnings amounted to ₹350 crore, on which he paid ₹120 crore in taxes. His income comes from films, brand endorsements, and the popular game show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), which he has been hosting for the past two decades.

According to Pinkvilla, last year, Amitabh paid ₹71 crore in taxes, but this year, his tax payment saw a 69% increase, reaching ₹120 crore.

Amitabh Overtakes SRK and Salman

Amitabh Bachchan is known for his financial discipline and timely tax payments. This year, he paid ₹120 crore in taxes on earnings of ₹350 crore. His final tax installment of ₹52.5 crore was paid on March 15, 2025.

Shah Rukh Khan’s Tax Payment Last Year

Last year, Shah Rukh Khan held the title of the highest tax-paying celebrity after paying ₹92 crore in taxes. However, this year, Amitabh overtook him by 30%, jumping from fourth place to the top. Other names on the list include Thalapathy Vijay (₹80 crore) and Salman Khan (₹75 crore).

At 81, Amitabh Bachchan remains one of the biggest names in the industry. He recently worked in Vettaiyan alongside Rajinikanth and in Kalki 2898 AD with Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, and Deepika Padukone. He is currently hosting Kaun Banega Crorepati 16, and his return for the next season has already been confirmed.
