After offering a variety of services such as daily essentials, beauty products, pet care, and food items, Blinkit has now introduced ambulance services in India. The new service promises that ambulances will arrive at the patient’s doorstep within just 10 minutes.
The first five ambulances hit the streets in Gurugram on Thursday, as announced by Blinkit’s Founder and CEO, Albinder Dhindsa, through a post on X. Dhindsa shared that this initiative is a step towards addressing the issue of quick and reliable ambulance services in Indian cities.
He added, “We’re taking our first step towards solving the problem of providing quick and reliable ambulance service in our cities. The first five ambulances are now on the road in Gurugram, and soon, as we expand, you’ll be able to book a Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance through the Blinkit app.”
The Blinkit ambulances are equipped with essential life-saving equipment, including oxygen cylinders, AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators), stretchers, monitors, suction machines, and emergency medicines and injections. Each ambulance will have a paramedic, an assistant, and a trained driver to ensure high-quality care.
Dhindsa emphasized that the goal isn’t to make a profit but to offer an affordable and reliable service. “We aim to provide this service at an affordable cost and solve this critical problem for the long term,” he said.
Blinkit plans to expand its ambulance service to other major cities within the next two years. In his post, Dhindsa also urged the public to always make way for an ambulance on the road.
