Amazon India announced that it will soon roll out a quick commerce platform, delivering essential goods within 15 minutes. Country Manager Samir Kumar revealed that the service, internally called Amazon Tez, will be launched later this month. Initially, it will be available in select locations, with plans to expand the service thereafter.
This move comes in response to the growing competition from quick commerce companies like Blinkit and Zepto. Amazon aims to regain its momentum by offering faster delivery services, focusing on the convenience of bringing essentials directly to customers. Kumar emphasized that the key to success in this space is convenience, saying, “People prefer having essentials delivered to them rather than going out to shop.”
Despite being perceived as late to the quick commerce market, Kumar expressed confidence in Amazon’s ability to compete, citing its broad product selection, value-driven approach, and innovative use of AI to enhance decision-making.

Creating 2 Million Jobs in India
At the Amazon Smbhav Summit, the company also unveiled its plans to create 20 lakh (2 million) jobs in India by 2025. This initiative will primarily support the growth of Amazon’s seller network and delivery ecosystem. Since announcing its job creation goal in 2020, Amazon has already created around 1.4 million direct and indirect jobs in sectors such as e-commerce, logistics, manufacturing, and technology.
Kumar stated, “By enabling small businesses to integrate into the digital economy, we have created tangible opportunities for job creation across the nation. This is just the beginning, as we look forward to achieving our goal of 2 million jobs by 2025.”
