The dates for the famous Amarnath Yatra 2025 have been announced. This year, the Amarnath Yatra will begin on July 3 and conclude on August 9, making it a 38-day pilgrimage. The official announcement of the Yatra dates was made during a meeting of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board.
Every year, the sacred Amarnath Yatra takes place between July and August, leading devotees to the holy cave of Lord Shiva in the Himalayas of South Kashmir. The Amarnath Shrine Board is responsible for managing the pilgrimage and deciding the start and end dates.
At What Height is the Amarnath Cave Located?
The Yatra begins on the auspicious occasion of Skanda Sashti and concludes on Shravan Purnima. During this period, the weather remains pleasant for pilgrims. For the rest of the year, the region remains covered in snow, making travel impossible. The Amarnath Yatra starts from Srinagar and Pahalgam, leading to the sacred Amarnath Cave, which is located at an altitude of 3,888 meters (12,756 feet) above sea level.
Routes for Amarnath Yatra
The 38-day-long Amarnath Yatra can be undertaken through two main routes. The first is the traditional 48-kilometer route from Nunwan-Pahalgam in Anantnag district. The second is the shorter 14-kilometer route from Baltal in Ganderbal district.
