The much-awaited movie OMG 2 faced a significant turn of events when Akshay Kumar expressed his preference for a theatrical release over an OTT premiere, leaving the producers in a state of uncertainty.

OMG 2 serves as the sequel to OMG – Oh My God! Written and directed by Amit Rai, this movie is produced by Vipul D. Shah, Rajesh Bahl and Ashwin Varde by under the banner of Cape of Good Films, Viacom18 Studios and Wakaoo Films.

Initially, due to its controversial content, the co-producer Viacom 18 had planned to release OMG 2 on a streaming platform. Negotiations with JioCinema were progressing well, and a lucrative deal worth nearly 90 crores was on the verge of closure. However, everything took a sudden twist when Akshay Kumar intervened and expressed his keen interest in having the movie released in theaters.

As a result of Akshay’s decision, the streaming plans for OMG 2 were promptly called off, and the producers found themselves in a challenging situation. With the film now facing hurdles at the censor board, the producers are regretting their change of mind about the OTT release.

OMG 2 is scheduled for a theatrical release on August 11, 2023, and stars Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi, and Yami Gautam in prominent roles. The movie is set to clash at the box office with Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel starrer Gadar 2, adding further anticipation to its release.
