Aadhaar is basically a 12-digit unique identification number of a citizen of India, issued by UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India). It mainly consists of demographic and biometric records of a person in the form of identity proof which includes the name, address, contact details, and photographs of the holder. That’s why it is crucial to keep your Aadhaar Card up to date so that a person doesn’t have to face any problems in the future.
Many people were unaware of the fact that UIDAI also charges some amount for Aadhaar services. However, new Aadhaar Enrolment and MBU will remain free for those who lie between 5 to 15 years of age.
The UIDAI considered Twitter as the awareness platform for sharing this vital information with Aadhaar users. Here is everything that you need to know about the payment of different services offered by the UIDAI.
Charges for Aadhaar services
- Enrolment for the Aadhaar card has always been free of cost and UIDAI will make sure that it remains free of cost forever.
- Users don’t have to pay for Mandatory Biometric Updates too as MBU with or without demographic updates is also free.
- Sometimes people make demographic updates like name, address, date of birth, gender, mobile number, and email. For these updates, UIDAI will charge Rs. 50 for these services.
- UIDAI will charge Rs. 100 if a user wishes to make a biometric update with or without a demographic update. It is to be noted that updating one or more demographic/biometric details in a single visit, will be considered as one update request.
Also, note that if you are being asked to pay more than the above-mentioned pricing list or pay for free services then you can register your complaint in 1947.
