1- Koffee With Karan
Karan Johar, the ace filmmaker, used to host the celebrity talk show Koffee With Karan, in which mostly Bollywood actors and actresses used to appear. His talk show was filled with many controversial remarks which caused an impact on the careers of his guests. KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya appeared in the show and ended up being suspended from the Indian national cricket team due to their derogatory remarks about women on the show. Also, the comments about surgeries and personal lives by Bollywood celebrities on his show caused an uproar. However, finally this year, he announced that the talk show won’t ever be returning for another season.

2- Nepotism
Karan Johar has been criticised for favouring only star kids and being biased toward the outsiders in the Bollywood industry. Kangana Ranaut has publicly declared him the flag-bearer of nepotism in Bollywood. People have boycotted his films on occasions due to ignoring the talented outsiders. He has launched famous actors like Sidharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt into the Hindi film industry.
3- Drug Party
Karan Johar was severely berated in the media and people across India for allegedly hosting a drug party at his residence in 2019. Videos featuring Vicky Kaushal, Malaika Arora Khan, Ranbir Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor came out in the media, which caused considerable controversy. People demanded that legal action should be taken against the ace filmmaker, but nothing was revealed in the investigation thereafter.
4- Cold War with Kajol and Ajay Devgn
Ajay Devgn’s movie Shivaay and Karan Johar’s blockbuster Ae Dil Hai Mushkil were released on the same day and caused a rift between the actor and the filmmaker. Devgn’s wife Kajol, a dear friend of Johar, showed her displeasure on the issue and broke her friendship with Karan Johar. However, later Kajol and Ajay reconciled with Karan Johar and even made an appearance as guests on his talk show- Koffee With Karan.

5- Inclusion of Fawad Khan in his film
Fawad Khan was an essential part of Karan Johar’s film, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, which was released just after the attack from Pakistani terrorists in Uri in India. There was massive discontent among the public for including Fawad in the film, and the demand for his removal from the film caught fire. However, Johar did not heed the issue as he did not replace Fawad in his movie.
