During the time of coronavirus, Instagram has ramped up their game and introduced food delivery through its app. The reason is that the food industry has been hugely affected by the lockdown therefore, the platform has extended a helping hand towards them.

This initiative has been launched by Facebook wonder Instagram in India only. They have partnered with Zomato and Swiggy. Together the three are trying to give a sigh of relief to the local food vendor who has been burdened by the loss of their business. Moreover, a surplus of extra expenditure without having an actual income.

“We’re rolling out the food order sticker which will aid order discovery and spur engagement, and we’re glad to have partnered with Swiggy and Zomato for the same,” Nitin Chopra, Industry Head – E-commerce and Retail, Facebook India, said in a statement.

“We’ll continue to work on features that make it easier to support the small businesses you care about,” Nitin Chopra added.

“Instagram’s food order sticker will not just help restaurants introduce themselves to more customers. But will improve their engagement and add a new growth avenue for their business,” said Sandeep Anand, CMO – Growth Marketing, Zomato.

With the individuals not wanting to have delivered food from outside due to the fear of coronavirus, it’s hard to say how much this step would benefit. But even if 1% more users interact with the service than also it would generate quite a huge amount of order, which is a good thing for local business owners.
