Early Life 




Randeep Hooda was born to a Jat family on August 20, 1976, in Rohtak, Haryana. Dr Ranbir Hooda, Randeep’s father, is a surgeon, and Asha, his mother, is a social worker. In Sonepat, Haryana, he attended the Motilal Nehru Institution of Sports, a boarding school. His elder sister, Dr Anjali Hooda Sangwan, is a qualified obesity specialist in the United States. Despite his strong interest in acting, his father wanted him to become a doctor and enrolled him at Delhi Public School, R. K. Puram in New Delhi.

First Gig

Randeep moved to Melbourne after finishing high school to pursue a bachelor’s degree in marketing and a master’s degree in business management and human resource management.

Despite having a job, he continued to model and participate in amateur plays in Delhi. He participated in infamous actor Naseeruddin Shah’s creativity and improvisation program at New Delhi’s National School of Drama, which helped improve his acting talents. During one of his practices, he was approached by director Mira Nair, who offered him his first job.

Career 




Randeep began his acting career with Mira Nair’s 2001 film Monsoon Wedding, for which he received critical praise, and the film was a commercial success. Even after a successful debut, it took a while for him to get another movie. After a time, he was cast in Ram Gopal Verma’s D.

After D, he appeared in a string of failed films before being cast in Milan Luthria’s Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai in 2010. This film is regarded as a watershed moment in the actor’s career, with his performance receiving widespread acclaim.

Eventually, Randeep appeared in Tigmanshu Dhulia’s romantic thriller Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster, after the success of Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai. Next, the actor starred in the official Hindi version of the Colombian thriller The Hidden Face, Murder 3, with Aditi Rao Hydari and Sara Loren, which received mixed reviews upon its release. He also appeared in John Day and Karan Johar’s Bombay Talkies, alongside Rani Mukerji and Saqib Saleem. 

In Bombay Talkies, Randeep portrays a cultured man who attempts to hide his homosexuality from others. On the whole, his performance garnered positive feedback.

Furthermore, Randeep bagged a role in Imtiaz Ali’s Highway, also starring Alia Bhatt, in 2014, as a gruff truck driver engaged in the kidnapping of a girl. In 2016, he was cast with Akshay Oberoi and Piaa Bajpai in the action thriller Laal Rang. His performance was well-received.

Among his other films are Baaghi 2 (2018), Love Aaj Kal (2020), and Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai (2021).

Hobbies

Randeep is a professional horse rider who often competes in professional horse riding competitions such as Polo and Showjumping. he owns six horses at the Mahalaxmi racetrack in Mumbai. He has also won two medals in equestrian competitions in Mumbai and Delhi. He won a silver medal in the National Equestrian Championship (NEC) in Mumbai in February 2019.

Photographing wildlife, playing polo, and putting on a show are all activities that I like. Jumping, listening to instrumental music, travelling, working out, and horseback riding are all activities that he enjoys.
