Retro OTT Release Date
The Netflix team recently posted on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “A man’s love can move mountains, but his rage? That’s Retro! Coming soon to Netflix in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada after its theatrical release!” The exact OTT release date for Retro is not announced by Netflix.
Suriya’s Character Driven by Pure Love
The teaser of Retro was released two months ago. It begins at the ghats of Varanasi, where Suriya and Pooja are seen sitting together. During the evening aarti, Pooja wraps a bandage around Suriya’s wrist. He then vows to control his anger, quit working with his father, and leave behind his violent ways. Suriya starts trying to smile and live happily. Eventually, he makes “pure love” the purpose of his life. He expresses his desire to marry Pooja, and she joyfully agrees by holding his hand. The teaser then reveals glimpses of Suriya’s past, where he is shown as an angry, drunken gangster.

Directed by Karthik Subbaraj, Retro features cinematography by Shreyaas Krishna, music by Santhosh Narayanan, and editing by Shafique Mohammed Ali. Suriya plays the role of an aggressive man named Kannan, while Pooja Hegde stars as Rukmini. The film also features Baby Avani, Jayaram, Joju George, Karunakaran, Prashanth, Sujith Shankar, Shriya Saran, Nassar, Prakash Raj, Prem, and MD Asif in key roles.
