If you are an Instagram user, this update is for you! Instagram is reportedly working on a new feature that will allow users to dislike comments or posts. Some users have already noticed a downward arrow next to the like heart in the comment section. However, the company has not made any official announcement regarding the rollout of this feature. With this update, users will be able to like or dislike both feed posts and reels.
How Will the Dislike Button Work?
Similar to Reddit’s downvote button, this feature will let users express disagreement with a post or comment. However, Instagram has confirmed that the dislike count will not be publicly visible. Additionally, users will not receive notifications if their comment is disliked. Instead, comments with a high number of dislikes will be automatically pushed lower in the comment section.

Concerns About Misuse
While some users welcome this feature, others worry that it could encourage online bullying, harassment, and negativity, which may impact mental health, especially among younger users. However, Instagram has assured that dislike counts will remain private, ensuring that users will not face direct negativity or notifications about their disliked comments.
