Azaad is facing difficulties at the box office, earning a modest Rs 4.65 crore in its first three days. The film had an underwhelming start, collecting Rs 1.5 crore on its opening day.

On Sunday, Azaad saw a slight rise in earnings, bringing in Rs 1.85 crore, which is about Rs 50 lakh more than Saturday’s collection of Rs 1.3 crore. However, the overall occupancy rate remains low at just 11.66%.

The movie is currently being screened in approximately 2,068 shows, with Mumbai hosting 389 screenings and the NCR region featuring 556. Alongside lead actors Ajay, Rasha, and Aaman, the cast includes Diana Penty, Mohit Malik, Piyush Mishra, and Natasha Rastogi in key roles.

Azaad marks the return of Abhishek Kapoor as a director after four years, following his successful films Kai Po Che and Kedarnath. Kapoor, known for launching fresh talent like Sushant Singh Rajput in Kai Po Che and Sara Ali Khan in Kedarnath, faced a tough challenge with Azaad’s debut.

Comparing Azaad’s performance to Kapoor’s previous films highlights its struggle. Kai Po Che (2013) made Rs 4.5 crore on its opening day and went on to collect around Rs 50 crore domestically. Similarly, Kedarnath (2018) had a stronger start with Rs 6.8 crore on its first day and eventually grossed Rs 66 crore in India. In contrast, Azaad is yet to gain momentum at the box office.
