How to Port Your BSNL Number to Jio, VI & Airtel Online: Know Process

Category-

Want to change your mobile network from BSNL to Airtel, Jio, or Vi? No problem! You can easily switch without losing your existing number. This process is called Mobile Number Portability (MNP). Here’s a simplified guide to help you:

1. Request a Porting Code:

  • Text “PORT <Your 10-digit Mobile Number>” to 1900. For example: “PORT 9876543210”
  • You’ll receive a Unique Porting Code (UPC) via SMS. This code is usually valid for 4 days.

2. Visit Your New Network Provider:

  • Go to the nearest store of Airtel, Jio, or Vi.
  • Bring these documents:
    • A copy of your Aadhaar card, voter ID, or another government-issued ID.
    • A passport-size photo.
  • Share your UPC with the store representative.

3. Choose Your Plan & Submit:

  • Fill out the Customer Application Form (CAF) provided by your new network provider.
  • Select the mobile plan that best suits your needs.
  • Submit the form and complete the necessary formalities.

4. Receive Your New SIM Card:

  • You will receive a new SIM card from your chosen network provider.
  • Your BSNL connection will be deactivated within 3-5 business days.
  • Once your BSNL service stops, insert the new SIM card into your phone.

Important Considerations:

  • Clear any outstanding dues: If you have a postpaid BSNL connection, ensure all bills are paid in full.
  • Eligibility: You can usually port your number after 90 days of continuous service with your current provider.
  • Keep your phone powered on: Ensure your phone is switched on to receive important messages and updates during the porting process.

That’s it! Porting your BSNL number is a straightforward process. If you encounter any problems, contact the customer care of your chosen network provider for assistance.
