Pushpa 2: The Rule, starring Allu Arjun and directed by Sukumar, continues to perform well in theatres worldwide. The film is close to crossing the Rs 1,600-crore mark, despite witnessing a drop in collections on Monday, December 23. Such declines during weekdays are common, but it remains to be seen if the film can sustain its momentum through its third week.
According to Sacnilk, Pushpa 2 recorded a sharp dip in earnings, falling by nearly Rs 20 crore. On Day 18, it earned Rs 32.95 crore, but collections dropped to Rs 12.25 crore net on Monday. Interestingly, the Hindi version is performing better than the Telugu version, earning Rs 9.75 crore compared to Rs 2.2 crore net in India.
The film’s 19-day net total in India stands at Rs 1,074.85 crore, with a worldwide gross of Rs 1,506.7 crore. As it nears its one-month run in theatres, collections are expected to rise further.
However, the film’s success has been overshadowed by a tragic incident during its premiere in Hyderabad, where a stampede resulted in the death of a woman. The incident caused widespread outrage, leading to Allu Arjun being summoned by the Chikkadpally police. The controversy escalated when his Hyderabad home was vandalized by members of the OU JAC (Osmania University Joint Action Committee).

In response, producer Naveen Yerneni of Mythri Movie Makers donated Rs 50 lakh to the victim’s family. Meanwhile, six individuals connected to the incident were granted bail by a Hyderabad court as investigations continue. Despite the controversy, Pushpa 2 remains a massive box office success.
On December 23, Yash Raj Films congratulated the team of Pushpa 2 on social media, saying, “Records are meant to be broken. Congratulations to the entire Pushpa 2 team for rewriting history books. Fire Nahi, wildfire!!!” In response, Allu Arjun expressed gratitude, saying, “Thank you … so graceful. Humbled by your wishes. May this record soon be broken by a heart-melting YRF film, and may we all collectively move towards excellence.”
The exchange highlighted the mutual admiration within the film industry as Pushpa 2: The Rule continues its impressive box office run.
