The registration process for the Common Admission Test (CAT) has been initiated by the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta on its official website. Interested and eligible candidates can submit their applications online at iimcat.ac.in until September 13.
The CAT exam is a gateway for eligible candidates to gain admission to MBA programs at various IIMs across the country.
Eligibility
To appear in the CAT 2024 exam, candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree with at least 50 percent marks or an equivalent CGPA. For SC/ST/PwD candidates, the minimum required marks are 45 percent.
Exam Dates and Results
The CAT 2024 examination will be conducted nationwide on November 5, with results expected to be declared in January. After the registration process concludes, students will have an opportunity to make corrections to their application forms if needed.

Application Fee
- General Category Candidates: Rs 2,500
- SC/ST and OBC Candidates: Rs 1,250
Exam Pattern
The CAT 2024 exam will include the following sections:
- Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC): 24 questions
- Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR): 20 questions
- Quantitative Aptitude (QA): 22 questions
Each question will carry 3 marks. The exam will last 120 minutes, with 40 minutes allocated for each section. It will be conducted in three different shifts in a computer-based format.
