Mufasa: The Lion King is an upcoming American musical drama film directed by Barry Jenkins, written by Jeff Nathanson, and produced by Walt Disney Pictures and Pastel Productions. The photorealistic animated film serves as both a prequel and sequel to the 2019 adaptation of the 1994 classic The Lion King.
Returning cast members Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, John Kani, and Beyoncé Knowles-Carter are joined by Aaron Pierre, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Tiffany Boone, Mads Mikkelsen, Thandiwe Newton, Lennie James, and Blue Ivy Carter, making her feature film debut.
Mufasa: The Lion King Release Date
Mufasa: The Lion King is scheduled for release on December 20, 2024. The film was initially set to be released on July 5, 2024, but it was delayed due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike.
