The government keeps making continuous changes in mobile calling. Now, a new decision is being taken by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) regarding this. Telecom companies have also been instructed by TRAI on this matter. After this, it will also become difficult for users to be deceived because now, along with the phone number, the name will also be visible very soon. In a way, this feature will work similar to Truecaller.
TRAI has instructed telecom companies to obtain permission from users regarding this. Once permission is granted, users will see the name along with the number on their mobile screen. This will happen even in the case of an unknown caller, reducing the chances of scams significantly.
This feature, named ‘Calling Name Presentation (CNAP)’ by TRAI, is being implemented with continuous decisions from the government. To benefit from this, users will be asked for permission. Once this rule is enforced, getting rid of unwanted and fake calls will become easier.

With the calling name presentation service active, customers will directly see the name of an unknown caller as well. It will also help in avoiding fraudulent calls. However, the biggest benefit is that it will also identify spam calls. Yet, it’s unclear if the names of business or company calls will appear on the mobile screen or not.
